President Donald Trump is expected to attend a White House meeting with leading crypto, prediction-market and AI executives as the administration seeks closer ties with the digital-asset industry.
President Donald Trump is expected to join a White House meeting next week with some of the biggest names in crypto, prediction markets and artificial intelligence, according to people familiar with the planning.
The gathering is expected to take place Wednesday at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, ahead of the first meeting of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s new Innovation Advisory Committee.
Executives from major crypto and financial companies are expected to participate, including leaders from Coinbase, Ripple, Gemini, Robinhood, Polymarket and Kalshi.
The CFTC has already announced the formation of its Innovation Advisory Committee, which is focused on technology, digital assets and the future of U.S. financial markets.
Trump expected to join crypto industry leaders
People briefed on the plans said participants have been told Trump is expected to attend the White House gathering.
CFTC Chairman Mike Selig is also expected to participate, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick could also attend, according to people familiar with the meeting.
The White House had not immediately confirmed Trump's attendance.
The meeting is expected to bring together executives from both the crypto industry and traditional financial markets, reflecting the administration's broader focus on positioning the United States as a leader in emerging financial technology.
Major financial firms also represented
The committee's membership extends beyond crypto companies.
Executives from CME Group, Nasdaq and Intercontinental Exchange, among other major financial institutions, are part of the advisory group. Frank La Salle, who leads the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), is also a member.
The combination of crypto companies, exchanges, financial infrastructure providers and technology firms could make the committee an important forum for discussions about how digital assets should fit into the U.S. financial system.
CFTC to focus on crypto regulation
Following the White House gathering, the advisory committee is scheduled to hold its first meeting at the CFTC on Thursday.
The opening session is titled “Crypto’s Regulatory Evolution: From Uncertainty to Clarity.”
Among the proposed discussion topics is the remaining work needed to establish a durable federal market structure for digital assets.
That discussion comes as lawmakers continue working on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which aims to establish clearer rules for crypto markets and define regulatory responsibilities between U.S. agencies.
Clarity Act remains a key issue
The Trump administration and crypto industry are closely watching negotiations over the Clarity Act as the legislation faces a difficult path through the Senate.
One unresolved issue involves proposed ethics restrictions concerning Trump's personal business interests in the crypto industry.
Previous reporting has highlighted the debate over whether additional restrictions on the president's involvement in crypto-related businesses will be necessary for lawmakers to reach an agreement.
The White House meeting could therefore provide an important opportunity for industry leaders and administration officials to discuss the regulatory issues standing between the crypto sector and a clearer federal market framework.
Why it matters for Bitcoin
For Bitcoin and the broader digital-asset market, direct engagement between the White House, regulators and major crypto companies could signal a continued shift toward establishing formal U.S. rules for the industry.
A clearer market structure could affect exchanges, stablecoin issuers, tokenized assets, institutional investors and Bitcoin-related businesses operating in the United States.
The key question now is whether discussions between Washington and the crypto industry can translate into legislation and regulatory changes that provide long-term certainty for digital assets.
