Ethereum Price Remains Trapped Below $2,530
Ethereum opened around $2,438 and climbed to an intraday high near $2,485 before sellers pushed the price back below $2,500.
The move follows repeated rejection between $2,490 and $2,530, preventing bulls from extending the recovery that began after ETH traded below $2,000.
Since then, Ethereum has largely consolidated inside the $2,400–$2,530 range.
The latest test of $2,400 attracted buyers, allowing ETH to recover above $2,450. However, the inability to decisively reclaim $2,500 shows that sellers remain active near the upper portion of the range.
For now, Ethereum's broader short-term direction depends heavily on whether buyers can convert $2,530 from resistance into support.
$2,400 Remains Critical Support
Ethereum's daily Bollinger Bands highlight the importance of the current range.
The middle band sits around $2,465, putting ETH just below an important short-term trend level. Reclaiming this area would strengthen the possibility of another move toward the upper Bollinger Band near $2,530.
At the same time, the lower Bollinger Band is positioned close to $2,400.
That creates a clear technical structure:
$2,400: Major nearby support
$2,423: 4-hour dynamic support
$2,465: Daily Bollinger middle band
$2,500: Psychological resistance
$2,530: Key breakout level
A daily close below $2,400 would significantly weaken the current recovery setup.
Ethereum Momentum Cools but Remains Above Neutral
Ethereum's daily Relative Strength Index is around 59, keeping the indicator above the neutral 50 level.
That means momentum remains moderately constructive, although it has weakened from the stronger readings seen during the August advance.
ETH is also not in oversold territory, meaning the RSI does not currently indicate that selling pressure has reached an extreme.
The four-hour chart provides a somewhat more encouraging signal for bulls.
The Supertrend remains bullish, with dynamic support around $2,423. Ethereum can therefore maintain its short-term recovery structure as long as price remains above that level.
The Aroon indicator also favors buyers, with Aroon Up significantly above Aroon Down. However, the gap is not large enough to suggest overwhelming upside momentum.
Ethereum Liquidation Levels Could Amplify the Next Move
Leverage positioning could play an important role as Ethereum approaches the edges of its current range.
The three-day liquidation heatmap shows significant liquidity around the $2,490 region and another concentration between approximately $2,525 and $2,540.
A sustained move above $2,500 could therefore trigger short-position liquidations and accelerate ETH toward the $2,530 resistance area.
The opposite scenario is also possible.
A break below the four-hour Supertrend around $2,423 could send ETH back toward $2,400, where leveraged long positions face greater liquidation risk.
Additional liquidity bands around $2,440 and $2,470 could keep Ethereum volatile before a larger directional move develops.
Liquidation heatmaps should not be treated as price predictions. Liquidity changes continuously as traders enter, exit or adjust leveraged positions.
Analysts See $2,400 as the Key Line for Ethereum
Crypto analyst Ted Pillows has highlighted the importance of the $2,400 level for Ethereum.
According to the analyst, ETH has shown relative strength after quickly recovering from the recent move toward $2,400. Holding above that level would keep buyers in control of the current setup.
Pillows' chart identifies approximately $2,530 as the immediate resistance, followed by a larger resistance area around $2,800.
Below the current range, the analyst identifies approximately $2,200 as another important support zone, with deeper support around $1,955.
These levels become relevant only if Ethereum fails to hold the current recovery structure.
Long-Term Ethereum Targets Remain Highly Speculative
Another analyst, Crypto Patel, has presented a more ambitious long-term Ethereum setup.
The analyst argues that ETH is testing a multi-year resistance area for the third time while remaining above a longer-term accumulation zone.
The chart includes potential targets around $5,000, $10,000 and $15,000 if Ethereum eventually clears its major multi-year resistance.
However, these targets should be separated from Ethereum's immediate technical setup.
ETH first needs to escape the much narrower $2,400–$2,530 range. A sustained breakout above $2,530 would provide a stronger technical foundation for a larger recovery, while failure at resistance would keep the broader consolidation intact.
Ethereum ETF Flows Remain Important
Institutional demand is another factor Ethereum traders are watching.
U.S. spot Ethereum ETF flows have faced periods of persistent withdrawals, reducing one source of buying pressure for ETH.
If outflows continue, Ethereum could remain more dependent on spot-market demand to sustain a breakout.
A return to consistent ETF inflows, on the other hand, could strengthen the bullish case and provide additional demand as ETH approaches the $2,500–$2,530 resistance zone.
ETF flows therefore remain an important confirmation signal alongside price and technical momentum.
Ethereum's Supply Narrative Has Changed
Ethereum's supply dynamics have also evolved following major network upgrades.
The Dencun upgrade significantly reduced transaction costs on Ethereum's mainnet and helped make Layer 2 activity more economical.
However, lower mainnet fees can also mean less ETH is burned through the network's fee-burning mechanism.
This has reduced the strength of Ethereum's previous deflationary narrative during periods of lower network fee activity.
The change does not eliminate ETH's long-term value proposition, but it means investors need to consider factors beyond supply reduction, including staking, network activity, DeFi usage and Layer 2 growth.
U.S. Inflation Could Influence Ethereum's Breakout
Macroeconomic conditions remain an important factor for Ethereum.
Persistent U.S. inflation and elevated Treasury yields can make risk assets less attractive by increasing the returns available from traditional fixed-income investments.
The market is also watching Federal Reserve policy expectations closely.
If inflation remains stronger than expected, expectations for tighter monetary policy could increase and create additional pressure on Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies.
Conversely, signs of cooling inflation could improve liquidity expectations and give risk assets more room to recover.
This makes upcoming U.S. economic data particularly important for determining whether ETH can sustain a move above $2,500.
What Ethereum Bulls Need to Watch
The technical setup is relatively clear.
Bullish scenario:
Ethereum holds above $2,423 and reclaims $2,500. A daily close above $2,530 would provide the strongest confirmation that the current range is breaking higher.
That could open the path toward $2,800, although additional resistance would likely emerge along the way.
Bearish scenario:
ETH fails repeatedly at $2,500–$2,530 and eventually breaks below $2,423.
That would increase the probability of another test of $2,400.
A daily close below $2,400 would weaken the recovery and shift attention toward the $2,200 support region highlighted by analysts.
Ethereum Price Outlook
Ethereum remains in a relatively tight consolidation after recovering from levels below $2,000.
The $2,400–$2,530 range is now the most important short-term structure.
Holding above $2,400 would allow bulls to continue defending the recovery, while reclaiming $2,500 would put pressure on the major $2,530 resistance.
The decisive signal, however, would come from a daily close above $2,530.
Until that happens, Ethereum remains range-bound rather than being in a confirmed breakout.
Conclusion
Ethereum is showing resilience after its recent test of $2,400, but buyers still face a major obstacle near $2,530.
The short-term structure remains mildly bullish while ETH trades above the $2,423 Supertrend support, while the daily RSI remains above the neutral 50 level.
However, repeated rejection near $2,500–$2,530 shows that sellers have not yet surrendered control of the upper range.
A decisive daily close above $2,530 could strengthen the recovery and put $2,800 into focus. On the other hand, a break below $2,400 would invalidate the current setup and expose Ethereum to deeper support levels.
For now, $2,400 and $2,530 are the two levels that matter most for Ethereum's next major move.
