Hyperliquid Strategies Adds 365,000 HYPE
Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. has continued expanding its HYPE treasury, with an address attributed to the Nasdaq-listed company accumulating and staking 365,000 HYPE worth approximately $29.65 million over a 24-hour period.
The transaction adds to a much larger accumulation campaign. According to on-chain reporting, the company accumulated and staked approximately 3.029 million HYPE, worth about $252 million, over a two-week period at an average price near $83.40 per token. On-chain transaction report
With HYPE trading near $79.99 in the supplied market snapshot, the latest purchases were already below their average acquisition price. The difference puts the recent accumulation at an unrealized loss, although those losses remain paper losses unless the tokens are sold.
The HYPE Treasury Continues to Grow
Hyperliquid Strategies has made HYPE accumulation the centerpiece of its digital-asset treasury strategy.
The company's financial disclosures reported 29.3 million HYPE held as of June 30, 2026. Its filing also showed approximately $2.06 billion in total assets, including about $1.904 billion in HYPE based on the June 30 token price of $65.04. The company reported approximately $149.9 million in cash and cash-like instruments and no debt at the end of that period. SEC — Hyperliquid Strategies financial filing
Subsequent purchases have increased the company's HYPE exposure. The reported 31.8 million HYPE figure reflects the company's more recent disclosed holdings, although treasury balances can change as the company buys, stakes or otherwise moves tokens.
Recent Purchases Carry a Higher Cost Basis
The latest buying also highlights one of the main risks facing digital-asset treasury companies: the market price can fall below the average price paid for newly acquired assets.
Hyperliquid Strategies' reported two-week accumulation of 3.029 million HYPE at approximately $83.40 each means the position was below its acquisition cost when HYPE traded around $79.99. On those figures, the recent purchases were roughly 5% underwater.
That translates into an estimated unrealized loss of about $12 million on the recent accumulation. The figure can change substantially with HYPE's market price and does not represent a realized loss unless the company disposes of the tokens.
A $2.5 Billion Equity Facility Provides Funding Capacity
The company's HYPE buying has been supported by a broader capital-raising strategy.
On Sept. 1, Hyperliquid Strategies filed a Form 8-K with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, announcing an amendment to its equity purchase facility with Chardan Capital Markets LLC. The amendment increased the committed equity purchase facility from $1 billion to $2.5 billion. SEC — Chardan equity facility filing
The larger facility gives Hyperliquid Strategies additional potential access to capital for its treasury strategy. However, the $2.5 billion figure represents the size of the committed facility, not money that the company has already raised or deployed.
The filing also contains conditions governing the issuance of shares under the agreement, meaning the facility should not be interpreted as an immediate $2.5 billion cash balance.
Hyperliquid Strategies Is Also Staking HYPE
The company's strategy goes beyond simply holding HYPE.
Hyperliquid Strategies previously launched a validator operation with Unit Labs under the Hyperliquid Strategies x Unit name. The company's disclosures describe HYPE staking and validator activity as part of its participation in the Hyperliquid ecosystem. SEC — Hyperliquid Strategies ecosystem disclosure
Its fiscal-year results also reported $9.5 million in staking and validator commission revenue for the year ended June 30, 2026. The company had no debt at that date, according to its financial disclosures.
This means the treasury strategy is linked not only to HYPE's market value but also to activity generated through staking and participation in the Hyperliquid network.
Hyperliquid's Buyback Mechanism Adds Another Source of Demand
The company's treasury purchases are occurring alongside Hyperliquid's own token-buyback mechanism.
Hyperliquid directs a large portion of fees generated by its perpetual futures and spot markets toward the Assistance Fund, which uses those funds to purchase HYPE on the open market. Hyperliquid Assistance Fund documentation
The mechanism creates a source of HYPE demand that operates independently from Hyperliquid Strategies' corporate treasury purchases.
That distinction is important when assessing the token. The company's buying is one potential source of demand, while protocol activity, fee generation and the Assistance Fund provide another.
HYPE Is Also Facing Broader Crypto Market Pressure
The latest accumulation came during a period of weakness across the wider cryptocurrency market.
The supplied report said crypto markets experienced approximately $562 million in liquidations on Sept. 10 following a hotter U.S. producer price index reading. HYPE fell approximately 5.78% over 24 hours in the same market snapshot.
That broader backdrop means the decline was not necessarily specific to Hyperliquid Strategies. A market-wide risk-off move can pressure HYPE alongside other digital assets, increasing the gap between the company's recent acquisition prices and the current market value.
The PURR Premium Will Matter
Another factor for investors watching the strategy is the relationship between Hyperliquid Strategies' share price and the value of its HYPE holdings.
If PURR trades at a premium to the underlying value of its HYPE treasury, raising additional equity can potentially provide capital for further purchases without immediately creating the same dilution concern. If the shares trade below the value of the assets held, however, issuing additional stock can become less attractive for existing shareholders.
This makes the company's share valuation an important part of the treasury strategy, alongside HYPE's own market price and Hyperliquid's underlying business activity.
What Comes Next for Hyperliquid Strategies
Hyperliquid Strategies' latest purchase shows that the company continues accumulating and staking HYPE despite short-term weakness.
The company now has a large HYPE exposure, a $2.5 billion equity purchase facility, validator and staking operations, and a strategy that ties its balance sheet closely to the Hyperliquid ecosystem.
At the same time, the recent purchases demonstrate the risks of aggressive treasury accumulation. If HYPE remains below the average purchase price, the company's unrealized losses can increase. If the token recovers, the same accumulation could increase the value of its treasury.
For now, the key factors to watch are HYPE's market performance, Hyperliquid's trading and fee activity, the company's ability to access capital through its equity facility, and the relationship between PURR's market value and the HYPE assets held by the company.
