SVM Sonic and Injective to Launch Cross-Chain AI Agent Hub

Injective, a Layer-1 blockchain protocol, has partnered with Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) blockchain Sonic to launch the Smart Agent Hub, a cross-chain platform designed to support the deployment and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) agents. This innovative collaboration will enable developers to deploy Solana-based AI applications on the Injective network, with the added benefit of seamless cross-chain interoperability, allowing for the bridge and transfer of various cryptocurrencies.
A New Frontier for AI Agents
The Smart Agent Hub is set to provide a decentralized ecosystem where AI agents built on the SVM can easily integrate into Injective’s infrastructure. This integration will enable developers to create AI-powered applications that can not only interact within Injective’s ecosystem but also monetize their creations through tokenization and fractionalized ownership.
Injective is planning to launch the initial testnet for the Smart Agent Hub in the first quarter of 2025, with full integration expected to roll out in phases over the coming months. Once operational, developers on Injective will be able to deploy Solana-based AI agent applications using Remote Procedure Calls (RPC).
Connecting Solana and Injective through Sonic Infrastructure
The cross-chain hub will leverage Sonic's infrastructure alongside the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) Protocol to connect the Injective WebAssembly (WASM) blockchain with Solana. This infrastructure will allow for the bridge of SOL (Solana’s native cryptocurrency) and Solana-based tokens, as well as wrapped and native Injective tokens.
This partnership follows Injective’s recent release of the iAgent software development kit (SDK), which incorporates OpenAI technology to build advanced AI agents. These agents are capable of analyzing data, predicting market trends, and executing trades—further solidifying Injective’s vision of a Multi-VM future, where developers can build agents on their preferred virtual machines (VMs).
The Growing Potential of AI Agents
Injective’s expansion into the AI agent space comes at a time when AI technology is seeing significant growth. The AI agent sector, which is currently valued at $11.2 billion, is still in its early stages. Notably, Fetch.ai and Virtuals Protocol together account for over half of the sector’s market cap. By comparison, decentralized finance (DeFi) boasts a market cap of $145 billion, while stablecoins total around $208 billion.
Injective’s collaboration with Sonic underscores their belief in the potential of AI agents and their broader application within decentralized networks. However, they are not alone in recognizing the opportunity. Coinbase, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has also entered the AI agent space with its Based Agent tool, which was launched in October. Similarly, Near Protocol is in the beta phase of its Near Intents project, which facilitates trading across multiple cryptocurrencies and connects various blockchains and wallets through smart contracts and chain signatures.
AI Agents and Intellectual Property
In addition to the rise of AI agents for trading and market predictions, the application of AI in the trading of intellectual property (IP) is beginning to take shape. Story Protocol, an intellectual property blockchain network, has developed a theoretical framework that could allow AI agents to engage in the buying, selling, and licensing of intellectual property across decentralized platforms.
Looking Ahead
As AI technology continues to evolve, the partnership between Injective and Sonic represents a promising step toward a more decentralized, AI-powered future. With cross-chain interoperability and advanced AI capabilities at its core, the Smart Agent Hub aims to unlock new opportunities for developers, enabling them to build and monetize AI agents in an increasingly interconnected blockchain ecosystem.
The integration of AI agents into blockchain space is poised to disrupt various industries, from finance to intellectual property, and the ongoing developments in this field will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the future of decentralized networks.
