Ripple Raises $275 Million for Prime Brokerage Expansion

Ripple has raised $275 million through an upsized private placement of senior unsecured notes as it continues expanding its institutional financial-services business through Ripple Prime.

The proceeds will be used for working capital and general corporate purposes, with the company focusing on expanding U.S. clearing, prime brokerage and financing services. Ripple announced the transaction on Tuesday, with Piper Sandler serving as lead placement agent.

The notes received an investment-grade BBB rating from KBRA, matching the issuer rating previously assigned to Ripple Prime.

Ripple Prime Becomes a Bigger Institutional Focus

Ripple Prime is the company's non-bank, multi-asset prime brokerage platform. The business provides institutional clients with services including clearing, financing, trading and access to digital and traditional markets.

Ripple created Ripple Prime following its acquisition of Hidden Road. The company has described the platform as a way to connect institutional investors with digital assets, foreign exchange, derivatives, fixed income and other financial markets.

Ripple Continues Investing in Institutional Infrastructure

The latest financing follows Ripple's $200 million investment round at a $40 billion valuation announced in May. That capital was also intended to support the expansion of Ripple Prime and its institutional financial infrastructure.

Ripple acquired Hidden Road for approximately $1.25 billion in 2025 and subsequently rebranded the business as Ripple Prime. The company said the platform's revenue has since tripled year over year. Ripple's official announcement describes the acquisition as part of its strategy to build a global multi-asset prime brokerage.

Prime Brokerage Connects Traditional and Crypto Markets

Prime brokerage is becoming an increasingly important part of the institutional digital-asset market because large investors often need more than simple exchange access.

Ripple Prime offers services spanning digital assets, FX, precious metals, exchange-traded derivatives, OTC swaps and fixed-income products. Ripple says the platform supports portfolio financing, risk-based margin financing and cross-margining across different asset classes.

This broader infrastructure could allow hedge funds, market makers and other professional investors to manage digital and traditional assets through a more integrated financial system.

Ripple Expands U.S. Clearing and Financing

The latest capital raise comes as Ripple Prime expands its U.S. operations. Ripple Prime launched digital-asset spot prime brokerage capabilities for U.S. institutional clients in November 2025, allowing customers to execute OTC spot transactions across major digital assets including XRP and RLUSD.

The platform also provides access to derivatives, clearing and financing while allowing institutions to manage collateral across different types of digital-asset exposures.

Ripple Prime Targets Institutional Liquidity

Ripple has continued adding connections to trading venues as it develops Ripple Prime. In May 2026, the company announced an integration with EDX Markets that gives Ripple Prime clients access to EDX spot and perpetual-futures liquidity through its institutional prime-brokerage framework.

Ripple Prime has also expanded access to onchain liquidity. The company announced support for Hyperliquid in February, allowing institutional clients to access decentralized derivatives liquidity while integrating those exposures with other assets supported by Ripple Prime.

XRP and RLUSD Remain Part of Ripple's Strategy

Although Ripple Prime is designed as a multi-asset platform, XRP and RLUSD remain important components of Ripple's broader institutional strategy.

Ripple has said that RLUSD is already being used as collateral for some prime-brokerage products, while XRP is available through Ripple Prime's institutional digital-asset services. The company's broader infrastructure combines payments, custody, stablecoins and prime brokerage.

That strategy positions Ripple beyond its traditional association with XRP and toward a broader role in institutional digital-asset infrastructure.

Why the $275 Million Raise Matters

The senior-notes offering gives Ripple Prime additional capital as it expands services that require substantial liquidity, financing capacity and risk-management infrastructure.

The BBB investment-grade rating is also notable because it indicates that the notes received an investment-grade assessment from KBRA, potentially helping Ripple Prime access institutional debt markets as it grows.

Ripple's strategy increasingly resembles that of a financial infrastructure provider rather than a company focused solely on cryptocurrency payments.

Ripple's Institutional Strategy Is Expanding

Ripple's acquisition of Hidden Road, subsequent investment in Ripple Prime and latest debt financing all point toward the same broader objective: building infrastructure that connects traditional finance with digital assets.

The company now offers services covering payments, custody, stablecoins and prime brokerage, while Ripple Prime provides clearing and financing across multiple asset classes. Ripple's official platform describes this as a multi-asset approach designed to help institutions operate across traditional and digital markets.

For Ripple, the latest $275 million financing could provide additional balance-sheet capacity as institutional demand for digital-asset trading, settlement and financing continues to develop.
