Bitfinex Securities Completes Record $50M Tokenized Capital Raise

Bitfinex Securities has completed a $50 million tokenized capital raise for metals company Alkemya, marking the largest fundraising transaction completed through the platform to date.

The deal represents another step in the expansion of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), as traditional commodities and financial instruments increasingly move onto blockchain networks.

The offering involved ALKN, a tokenized security representing limited partnership interests in Luxembourg-based Alkemya Metacore SCSp.

According to the companies, the partnership holds approximately 7 million meters of 99.99% pure nickel wire, independently valued at around $1.64 billion.

$50M Raise Sets New Bitfinex Securities Record

The $50 million transaction surpasses Bitfinex Securities' previous fundraising record of $30 million, which came from its tokenized U.S. Treasury product USTBL.

Bitfinex Securities has now completed seven capital raises and listed 16 tokenized assets, according to the company.

The latest transaction demonstrates how blockchain infrastructure is increasingly being used to structure investment products around assets that traditionally operate through conventional financial markets.

Rather than investors directly purchasing physical nickel, ALKN provides eligible investors with fractional and digitally transferable interests in the underlying partnership.

ALKN Connects Blockchain Investors With Nickel Assets

Alkemya's nickel holdings are central to the new tokenized security.

The company holds high-purity nickel wire, a material used in several industrial sectors, including:

  • Semiconductors

  • Aerospace

  • Defense

  • Power systems

  • Industrial applications

  • Green hydrogen

  • Advanced technology manufacturing

The tokenization structure allows Alkemya to raise capital against its underlying asset base while providing eligible investors with a blockchain-based representation of their interests.

The company said this is its first tokenization project.

Funds Will Support Engineered Nickel Products

Alkemya plans to use the capital raised through ALKN to support the commercialization of engineered nickel products.

The company is targeting applications in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing and other high-technology sectors.

This gives the transaction a broader industrial component beyond simply creating a digital investment product.

The underlying strategy is to connect physical industrial assets with blockchain-based financial infrastructure, potentially making traditionally difficult-to-access assets easier to structure and transfer.

Tokenized RWAs Continue Expanding Across Crypto

The Bitfinex Securities transaction comes as real-world asset tokenization becomes an increasingly important theme across the cryptocurrency industry.

Tokenization allows ownership or economic interests in traditional assets to be represented digitally on blockchain networks.

Treasury securities, funds, commodities, real estate and other financial instruments are increasingly being explored for blockchain-based issuance.

For the broader crypto market, the trend is significant because it moves blockchain technology beyond purely digital assets.

Bitcoin remains the largest cryptocurrency and a major institutional asset, but the infrastructure developed around digital assets is increasingly being applied to traditional financial markets as well.

Institutional Adoption Could Drive the Next RWA Wave

Large tokenized offerings such as Alkemya's $50 million raise could help demonstrate whether institutional investors are willing to use blockchain-based securities for assets outside traditional crypto markets.

The potential advantages include faster settlement, digital ownership records and more flexible transfer mechanisms.

However, tokenized securities also remain subject to regulatory, custody and transfer restrictions.

ALKN is being offered through Bitfinex Securities to eligible investors, meaning the token is not necessarily available to every cryptocurrency user.

Secondary Trading Has Not Started Yet

Although ALKN has been issued as a digitally transferable security, secondary-market trading will not begin immediately.

According to the announcement, secondary trading is expected to start no earlier than the completion of the next fundraising tranche.

Additional ALKN tokens will remain available to eligible investors through Bitfinex Securities until October 15.

That staged approach highlights an important distinction between tokenization and unrestricted cryptocurrency trading.

A security can exist on a blockchain while still operating under regulatory and transfer restrictions.

Why the Deal Matters for Bitcoin and Crypto

The transaction does not directly involve Bitcoin or BTC, but it is still relevant to the broader Bitcoin market.

Bitcoin helped establish blockchain technology as a mechanism for transferring and recording value without relying on traditional centralized infrastructure.

The expansion of tokenized securities takes that concept into additional areas of finance.

As more institutions experiment with blockchain-based settlement and ownership systems, the infrastructure surrounding digital assets could become increasingly integrated with traditional capital markets.

This could ultimately strengthen the broader institutional digital-asset ecosystem in which Bitcoin remains the dominant cryptocurrency.

What to Watch Next

Several developments will determine whether the tokenized RWA market can continue expanding:

  • Growth in institutional demand for tokenized securities

  • Secondary-market liquidity for tokenized assets

  • Regulatory clarity across major jurisdictions

  • Tokenized Treasury and commodity adoption

  • Blockchain settlement infrastructure

  • Expansion into additional industrial assets

  • Participation from banks and traditional financial institutions

The ability to create a token is only one part of the equation. Sustainable liquidity, regulatory compliance and investor demand will determine whether tokenized assets become a meaningful part of global capital markets.

Bottom Line

Bitfinex Securities' $50 million Alkemya raise represents its largest tokenized capital raise so far and provides another example of traditional assets being brought onto blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

The ALKN token represents interests in a partnership holding approximately $1.64 billion worth of high-purity nickel wire, with the newly raised capital intended to support the development and commercialization of engineered nickel products.

While the transaction is not directly related to Bitcoin, it highlights a broader trend across the digital-asset industry: blockchain technology is increasingly being used to tokenize real-world financial and industrial assets.

As institutional adoption of tokenized assets grows, developments like this could become an increasingly important part of the wider crypto market — alongside Bitcoin, stablecoins and other blockchain-based financial products.
