Donut Labs Raises $7M to Launch First Agentic Crypto Browser

New York-based Donut Labs has secured $7 million in pre-seed funding to build what it calls the world’s first “agentic” crypto browser — an AI-powered tool designed to transform how users interact with blockchain applications.

The funding round was led by Sequoia, Bitkraft, and HackVC, with participation from notable angel investors including Solana ecosystem leaders, Matrix Partners, Sky9 Ventures, Makers Fund, and SonicSVM.

What Makes Donut Unique?

Donut is not just another web browser. It’s a specialized crypto-native browser featuring artificial intelligence agents that understand the context of web pages and user intent. These agents can autonomously perform blockchain tasks like token swaps, yield farming, or portfolio optimization — all under a secure and intuitive interface.

“The traditional browser hasn’t changed for over 30 years,” said Chris Zhu, Donut’s founder and CEO. “We’re reimagining the front end of the internet to be hyper-financialized for AI agents.”

With built-in crypto wallets, decentralized exchange integrations (such as Uniswap or SushiSwap), and access to decentralized networks, Donut aims to make crypto transactions not only seamless but also safer. AI-powered risk screening and plain-English translations of opaque blockchain data help ensure both speed and security in every transaction.

A Glimpse Into the Future of Browsing

While Donut’s initial user base will likely include crypto traders and DeFi enthusiasts, Zhu believes agentic browsers will go mainstream within the next decade.

In the near future, Ethereum Layer-2 networks could harness agentic browsers to cut settlement costs, and mainstream browsers might either integrate these capabilities or ensure interoperability with crypto-specific browsers as AI technology becomes more accessible.

“Agentic browsers are poised to become the default entry point — much like smartphones replaced feature phones,” Zhu said.

Long-Term Vision

Beyond crypto trading, Donut plans to expand into payments, gaming, content creation, and social interaction — all within its crypto-native browser. By leveraging advancements in decentralized identity and confidential computing, Donut envisions becoming a personal “crypto CFO” for everyday users, helping them manage their digital assets effortlessly.
